RTLS Asset Tracking

EmbedX RTLS shows where tagged people and assets are inside a building. Choose Bluetooth Low Energy when you need a live map. Choose RFID when you need certain identification at a door, dock, or bench — and room-level find for the smaller set of assets that move between those points.

System 01

BLE real-time location

Battery tags and badges advertise a unique identifier on a short interval. Gateways — or Wi-Fi access points that already include a BLE radio — hear those signals and send identity, signal strength, and time to the EmbedX location server. The server keeps a live map, zone counts, search, and alerts.

Accuracy

  • Room or zone for most find, flow, and safety workflows.
  • X,Y position when a shelf, bay, or corner must be named.
  • Bluetooth 5.1 Angle of Arrival for sub-meter work where anchor density supports it.
  • Location refresh every few seconds. Tags run for years at room-level rates.

Where it fits

  • Hospitals: pumps, wheelchairs, patients, staff, and duress.
  • Factories: worker and machine paths, and high-mix station tracking.
  • Offices and campuses: badges, visitors, and emergency mustering.

System 02

RFID real-time location

Passive UHF tags have no battery. A fixed reader records the item when it passes a dock, door, cage, or bench, including bulk reads of many tags in one pass. Active RFID tags carry a cell and transmit on a short interval so readers can place them in a room. Shelf coordinates stay on the BLE system.

How the two modes split

  • Passive EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-63 for item identity at a checkpoint.
  • Active RFID for “which room is it in right now?” between checkpoints.
  • Handhelds cover audit and search where a fixed reader does not.
  • The location server logs crossings, last zone, dwell, and missed reads.

Where it fits

  • Inbound and outbound portals, and warehouse zone checks.
  • Manufacturing station checkpoints for serialized work.
  • Tool cribs, IT assets, linen, and supply cabinets.

Plan a floor around the question you need answered.

Room-level BLE, a coordinate on selected floors, or RFID at the doors that must be certain. Tell us the building and we will size tags, readers, and the location server.
